III. Job responsibilities
To perform the functions assigned to him, the labor protection engineer is obliged to:
3.1. Monitor compliance in departments of the enterprise with legislative and other regulatory legal acts on labor protection, and provide employees with established benefits and compensation for working conditions.
3.2. Study working conditions in the workplace, prepare and make proposals for the development and implementation of more advanced designs of fencing equipment, safety and locking devices, and other means of protection from the effects of hazardous and harmful production factors.
3.3. Participate in inspections and surveys of the technical condition of buildings, structures, equipment, machines and mechanisms, the efficiency of ventilation systems, the condition of sanitary devices, sanitary facilities, means of collective and individual protection of workers, determining their compliance with the requirements of regulatory legal acts on the protection of labor and when violations are identified that pose a threat to the life and health of workers or may lead to an accident, take measures to stop the operation of machines, equipment and work in workshops, areas, and workplaces.
3.4. Together with other departments of the enterprise, carry out work on certification and certification of workplaces and production equipment for compliance with labor protection requirements.

3.7. Participate in the consideration of the issue of compensation by the employer for harm caused to employees by injury, occupational disease or other damage to health related to the performance of their work duties.
3.8. Provide methodological assistance to enterprise departments in compiling lists of professions and positions, in accordance with which employees must undergo mandatory medical examinations, as well as lists of professions and positions, in accordance with which, on the basis of legislation, workers are provided with compensation and benefits for difficult, harmful or dangerous working conditions ; when developing and revising labor safety instructions, enterprise standards, a system of labor safety standards; on organizing briefing, training and testing the knowledge of workers on labor protection.
3.9. Conduct introductory briefings on labor protection with all newly hired, business travelers, students and students arriving for on-the-job training or internship.

What education does an occupational safety specialist need?
