The production calendar 2021 with a six-day working week is an important document for accountants and HR specialists. The calendar will help you avoid mistakes when calculating salaries, sick leave, and vacation. And also correctly plan the vacation schedule and the schedule for submitting financial statements during the six-day period.
In accordance with Article 100 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, a number of organizations and enterprises establish a six-day working week with one day off for their employees. The general day off is Sunday (Article 111 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).
The normal working hours for a six-day working week, as well as for a five-day one, cannot exceed 40 hours per week (Article 91 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation). This Production Calendar provides the number of calendar/working/weekends and holidays in 2021 with a six-day work week.
Holidays and weekends during the six-day period in 2019
Since several holidays coincide with weekends in 2021, the Russian Government proposes the following transfers:
- January 5 and 6 (Saturday and Sunday) to May 2 and 3;
- February 23 (Saturday) to May 10.
But since Saturday is a working day for workers with a six-day work week, January 5 and February 23 are not postponed for them. And the New Year holidays, unlike the five-day holiday, will last from January 1 to January 8. Thus, in the production calendar for 2021, with a 6-day work week, the following rest days are planned:
- from January 1 to January 8, 2021 (8 days);
- from February 23 to 24 (2 days);
- March 8 (1 day);
- May 1 (1 day);
- May 3 (1 day);
- May 9 (1 day);
- June 12 (1 day);
- from November 3 to 4 (2 days).
Note! For a standard six-day work week, transfers from January 5 to May 2, and from February 23 to May 10 are not applied, since Saturday is a working day for such a schedule. This means that holidays and days off do not coincide, therefore, there is no transfer of the day off. That is, May 2, May 10, 2021, with a standard six-day work schedule, are working days.
Holidays and weekend postponements in 2021
In 2021, non-working holidays in the Russian Federation are:
- January 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 — New Year holidays (as amended by Federal Law No. 35-FZ of April 23, 2012);
- January 7—Christmas Day;
- February 23 - Defender of the Fatherland Day;
- March 8—International Women's Day;
- May 1 - Spring and Labor Day;
- May 9 - Victory Day;
- June 12—Russia Day;
- November 4 is National Unity Day.
For the purpose of rational use by employees of weekends and non-working holidays, the Government of the Russian Federation, in accordance with Article 112 of the Labor Code, has the right to transfer weekends to other days. Based on Article 112 of the Labor Code, if a day off coincides with a non-working holiday, then in the production calendar it is transferred to the next working day after the holiday.
Transfer of holidays provided for by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation “On the transfer of holidays in 2019” dated October 1, 2021 No. 1163:
- from Saturday 5 January to Thursday 2 May;
- from Sunday 6 January to Friday 3 May;
- from Saturday 23 February to Friday 10 May.
Working time standards in 2021 with a six-day week
For a six-day working week in accordance with the Procedure, approved. By Order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia dated August 13, 2009 N 588n, the standard working time is also calculated according to the calculated schedule of a five-day work week with two days off on Saturday and Sunday, based on the duration of daily work (shift).
In accordance with Part 1 of Article 95 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, the duration of the working day or shift immediately preceding a non-working holiday is reduced by one hour. With a 6-day working week on the eve of the weekend, the duration of work cannot exceed 5 hours (part three of Article 95 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).
The standard working time calculated in the specified order applies to all work and rest regimes.
Holidays and long weekends: production calendar for 2019
Let us remind you which days are considered non-working holidays in Russia, according to Art. 112 Labor Code of the Russian Federation:
- January 1-8 – New Year's holidays and Christmas;
- February 23 – Defender of the Fatherland Day;
- March 8 – International Women's Day;
- May 1 – Spring and Labor Day;
- May 9 – Victory Day;
- June 12 – Russia Day;
- November 4 is National Unity Day.
The coincidence of the listed holiday dates with a day off entails their “shift” to the nearest working date. In addition, a government decree is issued annually to move a number of weekends (usually coinciding with the Christmas and New Year “vacations”) to other days of the year.
In the draft resolution “On postponing weekends,” developed by the Ministry of Labor to 2021, this approach is applied not only to some “New Year’s” weekends, but also to February 23, which falls on a Saturday. For a more rational use of rest time, the following transfer of days off is proposed:
- from January 5 (Saturday) to May 2 (Thursday),
- from January 6 (Sunday) to May 3 (Friday),
- from February 23 (Saturday) to May 10 (Friday).
At the same time, for Russians, the 2021 calendar with holidays will contain the following “long” weekends:
- 10-day New Year holidays (from December 30, 2021 to January 8, 2019),
- 3 days in March (from 8 to 10 March),
- in May, as many as 5 days of rest fall on May Day (from May 1 to 5) and 4 days on Victory Day (from May 9 to 12),
- On the November holiday you will have a 3-day vacation (from November 2 to November 4).
It is necessary to take into account that in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation the number of holidays may differ - regions have the right to declare non-working days of local or religious holidays. Accordingly, regional working time standards will also be different from all-Russian ones.

Postponement of holidays
By order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development No. 588n dated August 13, 2009, standard working hours were established for certain calendar periods. The norm for a five-day workday is calculated according to a calculated schedule with two days of rest on Saturday and Sunday based on the duration of daily work:
- with 40 hours of work per week - 8 hours;
- for less than 40 hours of work - the result of dividing the working week by 5 days, in hours.
According to the procedure from Order No. 588n, the length of a working day or shift before a holiday is reduced by one hour.
According to Art. 110 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, the normal duration of weekly continuous rest is at least 42 hours. Working citizens need this time for proper rest before the new work week. Next year, several holidays coincide with non-working days. In order to comply with this standard and allow Russians to have a good rest, the government clarified how many days we rest in 2021, and on which days we work.

How do you cope with the holidays?
There are not many coincidences between official non-working days according to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation and Saturdays and Sundays, and the approved calendar for 2021 is not much different from the usual one.
IMPORTANT!
The days January 2 and 3, 2021 (Saturday and Sunday) are non-working days and are moved to Friday November 5 and Friday December 31, respectively (RF PP No. 1648 of October 10, 2020).

General information about the production calendar for a six-day workweek
There are 366 days in 2021. However, a certain part of them are holidays, to which weekends are also added (in the case of a six-day working week, this is one day off - Sunday).
In order to correctly distribute the norm of working time, a production calendar for 2021 is drawn up with a six-day working week.
Non-working holidays are defined by the following regulations:
- Labor Code of the Russian Federation (Article 112)
- Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 875 of July 10, 2019 “On the postponement of holidays in 2021”
Article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation establishes a list of non-working holidays, which does not change from year to year:
New Year (January 1-6 and 8);- Nativity of Christ (January 7);
- Defender of the Fatherland Day (February 23);
- International Women's Day (March 8);
- Spring and Labor Day (May 1);
- Victory Day (May 9);
- Russia Day (June 12);
- National Unity Day (November 4).
Transferring holidays with a six-day work week
To create conditions for citizens to have a good rest, as well as for the rational distribution of working time, Article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation provides for the following transfer of days off:
- from Sunday 5 January to Tuesday 5 May;
- from Sunday 23 February to Monday 24 February;
- from Sunday 8 March to Monday 9 March.
With a 6-day work week, Saturday is not considered a day off, which is why such a transfer is not provided for.
Working days shortened by one hour for employees with a six-day working week fall on February 22, March 7, April 30, May 8, June 11, November 3, December 31.
Working time standards established for 2021 for working Russians
Guided by data from the official production calendar for the next year, personnel services develop work schedules for employees of their enterprises and set hourly labor standards for a calendar month, quarter and year. The calculation is made for a work week with a total duration of 40, 36 and 24 hours.
In turn, the accounting department, based on this information, calculates wages, vacation pay and bonus payments.
In accordance with the Draft Production Calendar for 2019 (remember, it will be finally approved by the Government after the adoption of the Resolution on the transfer of weekends and holidays), the standard working time for employees of organizations in 2021 will be set in the following parameters:
- Employees working 24 hours a week will be required to work 1,180 hours per year;
- 1,773 working hours per year are allocated for workers on a 36-hour weekly schedule;
- Employees will work 1,970 hours per year on a standard work schedule of 40 hours per week.
How are weekends tolerated during a six-day week?
To ensure that the holiday rest of workers is of optimal duration and the balance of the work schedule is rational, a system of transferring weekends coinciding with holidays to other periods of the year is practiced. Since the six-day period implies that Saturday is a working day, there is only one transfer in the 2021 working calendar - from Sunday 6.01 to Friday 3.05. Thus, the rest of workers for the New Year and Christmas will last from 1.01 to 8.01 continuously, and for the May holidays a day off will be added from the January Sunday on Friday 3.05.
Since the working day before the holiday is legally approved for a shortened duration, enterprise workers can count on shortening the working day by an hour:
- 22.02.2019;
- 7.03.2019;
- 30.04.2019;
- 8.05.2019;
- 11.06.2019;
- 31.12.2019.
General and special
Citizens of the Russian Federation living on the territory of Tatarstan, in addition to all-Russian holidays, also celebrate their own holidays:
- Eid al-Fitr, celebrated on June 4;
- Eid al-Adha, celebrated on August 11;
- Day of the Republic of Tatarstan, celebrated on August 30;
- Constitution Day of Tatarstan, celebrated on November 6.
In order to differentiate the categories of holidays, special color and letter designations for holidays and other days have been introduced into the PC for Tatarstan.
Thus, dates corresponding to all-Russian holidays and weekends are highlighted in red, Tatarstan holidays are highlighted in green, and dates marked with an asterisk refer to pre-holiday days, on which the working day is legally required to be shortened by 1 hour.
Residents of Tatarstan will celebrate all-Russian holidays together with the whole country:
- eight-day New Year holidays;
- February 23 with a two-day rest and March 8 – with a three-day rest;
- May holidays, which will bring a total of 5 additional days of rest;
- Russia Day in June;
- Unity Day in November with a cumulative three-day holiday.
What days will Russians rest in 2021: schedule of working and holiday dates
According to the Draft Production Calendar 2019, out of 365 days in the coming year, 247 days will be working days, 118 days will be allocated for weekends and holidays.
In accordance with Article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, fixed non-working holidays annually are:
- in January - New Year and Christmas holidays (1-8.01);
- in February - Defender of the Fatherland Day (23.02);
- in March - Women's Day (8.03);
- in May - Spring and Labor Festival (1.05) and Victory Day (9.05);
- in June - Russia Day (12.06);
- in November - National Unity Day (4.11).
In accordance with the legally regulated practice of moving weekends and holidays to other dates if they coincide with non-working days of the week, in 2021 it is proposed to move a number of days off:
- the non-working day of January 5 (Saturday) will be moved to May 2 (Thursday);
- the day off on January 6 (Sunday) is compensated by an additional day off on May 3 (Friday);
- for February 23 (Saturday), the day off will be moved to May 10 (Friday).
Thus, taking into account the approved transfers of non-working days in the coming 2021, working Russians can expect long weekends and holidays on the following dates:
- from December 30, 2021 to January 8, 2021;
- from 8 to 10 March;
- from 1 to 5 and from 9 to 12 May;
- from November 2 to 4.
Let us remind you that according to labor legislation, on pre-holiday days the working day is also shortened by 1 hour.
