The special tax regime of the simplified tax system (simplified taxation system, “simplified”) is primarily aimed at individual entrepreneurs and small business organizations. The Tax Code of the Russian Federation introduces various restrictions on the application of this tax regime. Such restrictions are, for example, the maximum amount of income and the maximum cost of fixed assets, beyond which the use of the simplified tax system is impossible.

For 2021, the income limit is:

Starting from 2021, simplified tax rates have been established for the transition period. Federal Law No. 266-FZ of July 31, 2020 determines the following rates when the above income limits are exceeded and the number of employees exceeds 100 people, from the quarter in which the income exceeded from 154.8 million rubles to 206.4 million rubles and the number from 101 to 130 employees:

  • for the simplified tax system, income is 8%;
  • for the simplified tax system, income minus expenses is 20%.

Those. The individual entrepreneur has the right to choose if the above conditions are exceeded:

  • stay on the simplified tax system and pay higher rates;
  • go to OSN.

Convenience of tax on simplified tax system income 6%

The advantages of working on the simplified tax system (USN) income of 6% are obvious upon closer examination, and its use makes life easier for taxpayers, both financially and administratively.

Firstly, there is no need to keep track of expenses and, accordingly, collect various receipts, checks, etc., confirming your expenses. Moreover, not all expenses can be taken into account as expenses when determining the tax base.

The deadlines for paying advance payments in 2021 are slightly different from 2021, due to the postponement of weekends and holidays:

  • Until April 30, 2021 for the 4th quarter of 2021;
  • Until April 26 for the 1st quarter of 2021;
  • Until July 26 for the 2nd quarter of 2021;
  • Until October 25 for the 3rd quarter of 2021;
  • Until April 30, 2022 for the 4th quarter of 2021.

Deadline for payment of simplified tax system 15%

Taxpayers are required to make advance payments no later than the 25th day of the month following the first quarter, half year and nine months (clause 7 of Article 346.21 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation). Advance payment transfer dates:

  • for the first quarter - no later than April 25;
  • for half a year - no later than July 25;
  • for nine months - no later than October 25.

The simplified tax system of 15% (or 20%) at the end of the year must be paid to the budget: individual entrepreneurs - no later than April 30 of the next year, LLC - no later than March 31 of the next year.

If the date of transfer of tax or advance payment falls on a weekend or holiday, then the money can be transferred on the next working day (Clause 7, Article 6.1 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation).

An example of calculating the simplified tax system for income 6%

I will give an example of calculating advance payments on the simplified tax system for income of 6% without employees:

Advance payment for the first quarter

1. Let's say your income for January, February, March, i.e. for the 1st quarter of the current year amounted to 500,000 rubles. 500,000×6% = 30,000 rubles.

2. Determine the amount of the deduction (these are your contributions that you should have paid during the first quarter of 2021):

  • for compulsory pension insurance 8112 rubles;
  • for compulsory medical insurance 2106.5 rubles.

Your total deduction for the 1st quarter of 2021 will be 10,218.50 rubles.

3. 30,000 - 10,218.5 = 19,781.5 rubles. This is the amount called the advance payment for the first quarter of 2021.

Advance payment for six months

A. Sum up the income for the first quarter (500,000) with the income for the second quarter, let’s say it is equal to 400,000 rubles. 500,000 + 400,000 = 900,000×6% = 54,000 rubles.

B. Determine the amount of the deduction (these are payments to the funds for two quarters - 10,218.5 x 2 = 20,437 plus an advance payment for the first quarter of 20,940.50 rubles). This results in a deduction of 39,059.50 rubles.

C. 54,000 - 41,377.5 = 12,622.5 rubles - the amount of the advance payment to the tax office for the first half of the year.

The advance payment for nine months and for a year is calculated in the same way. Just remember to pay your pension and health insurance contributions quarterly, and then you will have the right to deduct these amounts from your advance quarterly tax payments to the Federal Tax Service.

Let us explain the meaning of the numbers 2,106.5 rubles and 8,112 rubles indicated in paragraph 2 of the Example. In 2021, fixed contributions payable for pension and health insurance are determined by specific figures, unlike previous years, when contributions were calculated based on the minimum wage.

In 2021, the following amount of fixed contributions of individual entrepreneurs for themselves is determined:

  • the amount for pension insurance is 32,448 rubles (with an annual income of less than 300,000 rubles);
  • for medical insurance – 8426 rubles.

If we divide these amounts into equal parts for equal payment quarterly, we get 2106.5 rubles and 8112 rubles. Although, at your discretion, you can pay contributions not necessarily in equal installments.

In 2021, the amounts of fixed contributions for individual entrepreneurs for themselves, with an income of less than 300,000 rubles, remained unchanged compared to last year 2021:

  • for pension insurance – 32,448 rubles;
  • for medical insurance – 8,426 rubles.

With an income of over 300,000 rubles in 2021 and 2021, the individual entrepreneur must, in addition to fixed contributions, transfer to the Federal Tax Service 1% of the difference between annual income and 300,000 rubles. The deadline for transferring the additional payment for pension insurance for 2021 and 2021 is until July 1, 2021 and until July 1, 2022, respectively.

If you have employees, then the contributions paid for them also go towards reducing the simplified tax system payments, but according to a different rule. For example:

  1. Income for the 1st quarter amounted to 500,000 rubles. The tax, based on the tax rate of 6%, will be 500,000 x 6% = 30,000 rubles.
  2. You paid fixed contributions for yourself during the 1st quarter in the amount of 8112.00 + 2106.5 rubles, as well as contributions for employees in the amount of 15,000 rubles.
  3. Despite the fact that the total amount of contributions was 8112.0 + 2106.5 + 15,000 = 25,218.5 rubles, you can only reduce the tax by 50% of the calculated tax amount: 30,000 x 50% = 15,000 rubles.
  4. The advance payment for the 1st quarter for individual entrepreneurs with hired employees will be 15,000 rubles.
  5. Unlike an individual entrepreneur without employees, an individual entrepreneur with employees can reduce the simplified tax system tax by no more than 50% of the calculated tax amount (clause 3.1, article 346.21 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation).

Calculation of advance payments according to the simplified tax system

Due to the existence of two types of simplified taxation, advances should also be calculated using two different methods, taking into account rates of 6% or 15%. You don’t have to do the calculation yourself, but use any online calculators on the Internet. To use them, you must enter the following information:

  • for what period is the payment calculated;
  • type of “simplified” (or indicate the rate);
  • type of taxpayer (individual entrepreneur, individual entrepreneur with hired labor or LLC);
  • advances for previous quarters of the current year;
  • income received during the reporting period (should be indicated on an increasing basis, that is, taking into account previous quarters);
  • the total amount of insurance premiums (for yourself and employees, if any).

The result of the calculation will be the amount of transfer in the current reporting period.

Income

Even when using a calculator, it will not be superfluous to know how to calculate an advance payment according to the simplified tax system. This is necessary in various situations, including for self-control (in case of entering erroneous data into the calculator).

For an individual entrepreneur who has chosen the “Income” scheme, the step-by-step calculation will look like this:

  1. All income from the beginning of the reporting year should be summed up quarterly, minus losses from the previous period. Multiply the resulting amount by 0.06 - the result will be a basic tax at a rate of 6 percent.
  2. Next, you need to sum up all insurance premiums, including contributions for all employees, contributions “for yourself,” the amount of payments for sick leave, sales tax (if paid), and other payments.
  3. From the basic tax figure, the amount of insurance premiums of previous advances for the current year must be subtracted.

The result is the payment amount for the current quarter.

Income minus expenses

Advances under the simplified tax system “Income minus expenses” can be calculated in the following sequence:

  1. All income from the beginning of the reporting year should be summed up quarterly.
  2. Sum up all expenses confirmed accordingly.
  3. Subtract the amount of expenses incurred from the amount of income - you get the tax base.
  4. Multiply the final figure by 0.15 - you get a basic tax rate of 15%.
  5. Next, you need to sum up all insurance premiums similarly to the previous section.
  6. From the basic tax figure, you must subtract the amount of insurance premiums and previous advances for the current year.

This is how the payment amount for the current quarter is calculated.

Sample accounting policy of simplified tax system income 6%

  1. I take charge of tax accounting myself.
  2. To calculate the single tax, use the object of taxation in the form of income. Reason: Article 346.14 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation.

How to calculate an advance payment of the simplified tax system in 2020

Advance payments during the calendar year are calculated on an incremental basis, taking into account the results of work during each reporting period.

The easiest way is to consider an advance payment for the first three months, due to the fact that there are no previous periods, and, therefore, there is no cumulative total.

To calculate the advance payment for six months and nine months, it is necessary to sum up all income and expenses received in previous billing periods. The same should be done with expenses, with paid insurance premiums and previously paid advance payments.

(60,000 x 3) x 6% – 9,000 = 1,800 rubles

The amount of 9,000 rubles is ¼ of the amount of insurance premiums that an individual entrepreneur must pay for himself in 2021, provided that his income during the year does not exceed 300,000 rubles.

The amount of the advance payment for the first three months of 2021 in this case will be 1,800 rubles.

Calculation of advance payment for half a year:

For the next three months, the individual entrepreneur received an income of 200,000 rubles.

(180,000 + 200,000) x 6% – 9,000 – 9,000 – 1,800 = 3,000 rubles

The individual entrepreneur must pay 3,000 rubles as an advance payment for six months.

The advance payment for 9 months is calculated in the same way.
